Funding for the events in 2009 was provided by Nordic Energy Research (core sponsors of the NordSESIL project) and NORA.   Workshop
focused on practical lessons and experiences for small communities who
want to get sustainable energy projects happening. Specific cases were
presented: Faroese Kambsdalur Energy Centre and the PURE Energy Centre
in the Shetland Islands. Workshop
with a focus on developing project ideas for sustainable infrastructure
solutions for small and isolated communities (in collaboration with the
Canadian Embassy in Denmark and Faroese BlueGreenFuture.com) NordSESIL
in collaboration with the Nordic Council of Ministers' Working Group
for Sparsely Populated Regions (TBO) hosted a small supplementary
session at the end of the formal conference proceedings and invited all
conference participants to attend. Nordic Climate Solution
is defined by the organisers as "Northern Europe's largest
meeting-place on energy, transport, and the business of climate
change". Ideal setting for an information networking sessioninformal

on the Democratic Sustainability project in Sarfannguit settlement and
Knowledge Tourism project in Sisimiut community (in collaboration with
the ARTEK Conference 2009). Workshop
on "Getting sustainable energy projects happening in small communities
energy project planning". Included visit to the sustainable components
of the Hove music festival. (In collaboration with UNEP/GRID-Arendal) |
