Are you looking for ways to capture,
share and put to good use your inspirational ideas
and enthusiasm for developing sustainable energy solutions?
Then consider joining the community-focused, NordSESIL network. Email us at NordSESIL @ Risoe.dk for further information. Rising costs for fossil fuel energy supplies and a desire to reduce local and global impacts from fossil fuel use are prompting communities around the world to consider alternative methods of meeting their energy needs. A need to adapt to changes that affect our communities, such as climate variation or increased energy use, have also stirred interest in creating alternative methods of meeting energy demands than dependence on fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas. Communities in isolated parts of the world are particularly challenged in using conventional fuels such as these, with long distances and limited resources and services becoming additional barriers when trying to maintain cost-effective, reliable and sustainable energy services in areas that are more remote, and perhaps a little tougher, than most. The significant global investment in more sustainable energy generation, supply and management technologies has created a wide range of options for communities to consider as alternatives to fossil fuels. Unfortunately, many small (and not so small) communities do not have the skills and resources to understand how such developments relate to their energy demands, and more importantly - how they can evaluate and access such solutions.
